Have you been to WOMAD yet?
We recently went to WOMAD in the Cotswolds for the very first time, am I the only person who hasn’t been before? Almost everyone I spoke to had returned many times, some now coming back with their babies and little ones, year on year, they loved it so much!
So what was it like and would I go again?
I have to say it was a load of fun and absolutely!
We went as a family together with 2 other families and camped for 5 nights, running Music Bus sessions daily in the Children’s World.
I want to describe the atmosphere and the experience of being there but some feelings are hard to describe….
The music could be felt wherever you went with the backdrop of African drumming never far off. Music, dance and singing workshops were full on ranging from ballet to Bollywood to African to Harmony singing, all of which we had to try of course!
The colour and vibrancy and excitement together with that calm relaxed feeling you get when you finally unwind was catching and spread amongst the crowd. With soaring temperatures you just had to take it easy but later dancing into the night as the temperature dropped was fab!
The Children’s World was full of creative activities for all the family to join in with from making to clay, operating giant puppets, playing ukulele, to Music Bus workshops for the very youngest members, the families had a great time together.
The last day featured the big colourful rhythmic procession focusing on the amazing insect and bug creations the children and families had made which were stunning.
Despite heavy rain at the end we had the most amazing time and I’d thoroughly recommend going if you haven’t been yet
Let us know if you’ve been to WOMAD and what your highlights were, love to know!
