Music Bus work with Children and Family Centre’s to provide weekly and fortnightly music sessions as part of a centre’s regular programme of events for families.

The one hour classes are purposefully designed to fulfil EYFS requirements and at the same time encourage parents and carers to get involved and have fun making music with their children.

In Burgess Hill local families have had some great things to say about their fortnightly classes. “My baby squeals with delight when we start to sing and can’t keep still”. “My daughter loves coming and always wants to play the cymbals” are typical of the comments we hear every week from mums, dads and childminders.

Session Leader Helen says, “The classes are so rewarding, parents and children get really involved and have great fun together, they love making music, learning new songs and dancing and can’t wait to see what’s happening.

Over a period of many years Music Bus have also worked with Sure Start to provide regular monthly Birthday Parties as well as fun days and open day entertainment and special sensory music sessions for Portage Groups.

Music Bus also offer training to give staff the tools, confidence and expertise to lead music classes themselves, both in centres and in the community. Following an intensive one day music starter course outreach workers in Eastbourne had a great deal to say about their Music Bus training day. Sharon – “Fantastic! The day flew by and I have learnt so much to use in my own sessions”, Linda – “I loved looking at the world instruments in particular and have come away with lots of new ideas I can’t wait to try out!“, Sue – “It was practical, fresh and inspiring, I feel so enthusiastic now”.
